Theme Church decorations

This is that time of the year when most Churches around the world do something to decorate and brighten up. After all people come to pray during Lent and then come for the Easter Mass. Christians the world over celebrate the resurrection of Christ, the son of God! The feast also happens to have ancient roots when pagans rejoiced with the advent of spring. Easter marks the end of harsh winters and the beginning of spring. And therefore most places of Christian worship adorn the house of the Lord. There is no dearth of church easter decorating ideas. Check out the options suggested below!

Traditionally churches put up a large wooden cross outside or in the lawn to commemorate the memory of Christ’s journey from the Passover meal to crucifixion and then resurrection! Modern culture seems to have brushed off on the Church communities as well. They are resorting to theme decorations. For example many churches use fresh lilies and white ribbons to  decorate the entire church premises on Easter.

Floral arrangements and large wreaths are a common sight near altars. Easter banners are a common sight. They are easy to use and help ornament large spaces. Creating a mini Easter garden also works. It can be placed near the altar along with potted plants.

For those who wish to do something elaborate spring flower bouquets can be suspended from the ceiling to add to the overall effect!

Inspirational stories can be enacted to drive home the true meaning of Easter.

The latest fashion is to pick up easy to perform and comic scripts. In fact for those looking for Easter play ideas it is much better to perform comic plays than to go for something serious.

Working for and performing a funny play is not just an enjoyable experience for the participants; The audience regardless of age loves being entertained. It is actually a wonderful way yo spread the true message of Easter but at the same time retain the festive spirit. No occasion holds charm for the young if it becomes too solemn. Teens and kids like to have fun and therefore fun they shall have this Easter! But of course with a message!

Why should children celebrate Valentine’s Day?

Valentine’s Day is a very special occasion. It is not just for lovers, it is a day when everyone from all age groups come together to celebrate. It is an occasion where lovers acknowledge each other, share presents and try to make the day special for each other. It is a misconception that the day is only for lovers, children should be a part of this special day. It is a great occasion when kids can share presents with friends, acknowledge each other, appreciate each other and engage in crafts.

It is especially significant in today’s day and time. Most people live in nuclear families and don’t socialize much. Children have lesser friends than they used to in olden times. So they get fewer opportunities to mix, learn and share. Handmade gifts for Valentine’s Day are the perfect way to engage kids. There are loads other things kids can do to make the day special.

Organize a tea party for friends

 tea party

Help your child celebrate by inviting few of her best friends over for a snack party. Arrange for music and games and let the kids have fun through the day. Help your child make special handmade cards for her friends. Personalize these cards with friendship messages. Give out the cards and chocolates so the kids feel happy.

Arrange for special meals

Now if your little one has a sweet tooth or fetish for some special kind of cuisine, arrange for the stuff on Valentine’s Day. The idea is to make the little one feel he/she is so special and loved. Kids generally enjoy cakes and candies. Try and bake a heart shaped cake with your child’s favorite icing. Select special cake toppers that reflect the spirit of the occasion.

Make a gesture

Valentines is about loving, caring and sharing. It is an occasion when you can encourage your kid to do a good deed. The feel good factor will encourage the child to be more humane and sensitive to others; and is in fact the true message of Saint Valentine who began this tradition. You can encourage your kid to take out clothes that she doesn’t wear so you can distribute them among poor children. You can arrange for food to be distributed to kids who are not so fortunate. Ensure your child’s complete involvement so she knows the value of appreciating and helping others.

Snuggle in for a family movie night

Get your hands on motion picture CDS that reflect the theme of togetherness, family and love. Arrange for yummy snacks and gather around the television set with the entire family.

Organize day picnics

You can arrange a small garden party or day picnics with your kid’s friends to an entertainment park or garden. Pack snacks, cakes and chocolates and arrange for fun outdoor games. Kids are sure to love it.

So let your children have fun this Valentine’s Day!

Popular Valentine day lyrics

Speaking of popular Valentine’s day lyrics, there are so many songs that have become popular over the years. Stevie Wonder’s greatest hit, “I just called to say I love you,” has been a hot favorite ever since it was featured in the motion picture, “The Woman in Red,” in the year 1984.

The Lyrics…

No new years day to celebrate
No chocolate covered candy hearts to give away
No first of spring, no song to sing
In fact here's just another ordinary day

No April rain, no flowers bloom
No wedding Saturday within the month of June
But what it is, is something true
Made up of these three words that I must say to you

I just called to say I love you
I just called to say how much I care
I just called to say I love you
And I mean it from the bottom of my heart

No summer's high, no warm July
No harvest moon to light one tender August night
No autumn breeze, no falling leaves
Not even time for birds to fly to southern skies

No Libra sun, no Halloween
No giving thanks to all the Christmas joy you bring
But what it is though old so new
To fill your heart like no three words could ever do

I just called to say I love you
I just called to say how much I care, I do
I just called to say I love you
And I mean it from the bottom of my heart

I just called to say I love you
I just called to say how much I care
I just called to say I love you
And I mean it from the bottom of my heart
Of my heart, baby of my heart

Valentine’s Day Cards

Little did Saint Valentine know that his campaign to spread the message of love and happiness would turn into an annual feast celebrated by people across the world. The concept of greeting ones spouse or lover on valentine has been prevalent since the medieval times. In those days it was fashionable to recite or sing verses written specially for a loved one. Paper greeting cards originated in the 1500’s. But even before that the first recorded Valentine verses were written by the Duke of Orleans, when in prison. The Duke has written several versus and poems for his wife and some of these written parchments are still on display at the British Museum in England.

Valentine’s Day Cards

The 1700’s was significant. It was during this time that the tradition of presenting flowers to your beloved originated. Valentine Day cards became popular in America as far back as the 1700’s. At this time it was a common practice to import ‘writers’ or ‘books’ with romantic versus, which were then printed on cards and paper.

In those days most valentine’s day cards were handmade with depictions of the sacred heart, an angel and cupid and lace trimmings. Cards as we know and understand today became popular much later. Commercialization of the festival has changed a lot. Today cards come in every conceivable variety!
